SternaFuse Fixation

Fusion Innovations has designed the SternaFuse Fixation System (SFS) to deliver unparalleled versatility in sternal fixation. This novel device simultaneously provides both time-saving intra-operative flexibility for routine sternotomy closures (Classic Fixation), while offering extensive capability for complex reconstruction (Variable Fixation).

The SFS is a modular sternal closure device consisting of stainless steel plates that accept interconnecting links, which provide the surgeon several variations of locations for screw placement within each SFS construct.

All system implants are provided individually packaged and sterilized, allowing the surgeon to select and customize the desired implants for the specific needs of the patient.

Variable Fixation Sample Constructs

For more challenging cases, the surgeon has discretion to design an assortment of Variable Fixation Assemblies. The Links can be articulated to best address the particular anatomy and clinical complexity of the closure.

Classic Fixation Plates

For routine closure of standard median sternotomies, the surgeon may utilize the Classic Fixation Plates which contain similar design features as the Variable Fixation constructs but do not have articulating Links.

Sterilized Packaging & Driver Bits

All SternaFuse® implants and driver bit instruments are provided individually (a la carte) in pre-sterilized packaging.

Absence of implant and instrument trays eliminates contamination risk, hassle, and added cost associated with reprocessing and managing trays.

The disposable screw tray is designed to facilitate easy screw retrieval using the disposable driver bit.

The premium design of the driver bit and screw head features a custom Torx 10 bit-to-screw interface that effectively retains the screw and reliably minimizes the risk of stripping at the interface.

The disposable driver bit is the only required instrument, which also functions to measure the approximate sternal thickness for determining screw size.
